Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-11-02
Tamyo is made by Crab Tech ("we"). This policy covers the Tamyo app for iPhone and Apple Watch and this website, tamyo.app. The short version: the app keeps your data on your device and we never receive it. The only thing we collect is your email address if you join the waitlist on this website.
The short version
- The Tamyo app has no account and makes no network calls. What you enter stays on your device.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs for any of that.
- We do not use iCloud sync. We never sell your data and never share it, because we do not have it.
- You can delete everything in the app (Settings, "Delete all data") or by deleting the app.
- Tamyo is for adults, 18 and over.
What the app handles, and where it stays
To work, the app stores the following on your device only:
- Things you tell it: how to address you, your name, goal, birth date, height, weight and weigh-ins, activity level, the foods you log and their portions, workouts, water, rest-day check-ins, and your choices (coach voice, world, language, units, reminders).
- Your character's progress: levels, streaks, quests, unlocked looks, and the estimates the app calculates from your entries.
- Data from Apple Health, only if you allow it: steps, workouts, sleep, water and heart data. Tamyo reads these to update your character. It writes to Apple Health only the water you log, and nothing else.
The app is built without network code. It does not send this data to us or to anyone else. Reminders are local notifications created on your device. Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store: we do not receive your payment details.
Sharing and files you create
Nothing leaves your device unless you send it. If you export your data (a JSON file), make a share card, or create a weekly or monthly report (PDF and web page), that file is created on your device and goes where you choose to send it, for example AirDrop, Messages or Files. Once you share a file, the people or apps you share it with are outside this policy.
iCloud and backups
Tamyo does not sync through iCloud. Like the files of any app, Tamyo's data may be included in a backup of your iPhone if you have turned on iPhone backup in your Apple settings. That backup is controlled by Apple and by you, not by us.
Information Apple may give us
If you choose to share app analytics or crash reports with developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may provide us with aggregate statistics that do not identify you. We do not receive your Apple ID, name or email from the App Store.
This website
The site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers. Our host, Cloudflare, serves the pages and, like any web host, processes technical request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site. We do not use Cloudflare Web Analytics.
The waitlist
| What we store | Your email address, your language (English or Russian) and the time you signed up. |
|---|---|
| Why | To email you once when Tamyo is available on the App Store. We do not use it for anything else and we do not sell or share it. |
| Where | Cloudflare Workers KV (our hosting provider acts as our processor). |
| Abuse protection | To limit spam we count sign-ups per network address using a one-way hash that is salted daily and deleted within two hours. We do not store your IP address, browser or referrer with your email. |
| How long | Until we have sent the launch email, plus up to 90 days, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. |
| Delete or ask | Email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and we will delete it. |
Support email
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and what you send, and we use it only to answer you and keep a record of the conversation. Please do not send health information in an email.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you (for the app: nothing, it is on your device; for the waitlist: your email, language and sign-up time), ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to [email protected]. Washington residents: see also our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, which describes your rights under the Washington My Health My Data Act. California and other state privacy laws: we do not sell or share personal information for advertising and do not collect personal information through the app.
Health data and the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule
Health apps that are not covered by HIPAA can be subject to the Federal Trade Commission's Health Breach Notification Rule. Tamyo keeps your health-related entries only on your device, so we hold no copy that could be breached. If we ever add features that store data on our servers (for example optional sync), we will update this policy first, ask for your consent, and follow the rule's notification requirements.
Children
Tamyo is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has joined the waitlist, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, if the change is significant, tell waitlist members by email and show a notice in the app. We will not collect new kinds of data or use data for new purposes without telling you first.
